The SER is generated electricity during its test

The SMARTii team has produced electricity with the First Coal Powered CO2 based power plant prototype

The test run took place on the 25th of September 2019. when the power plant model has produced electric energy.

During the test, the boiler was heated by coal, and the circulation of CO2 (105bar/200°C) powered the self-developed turbine which produced electricity.

In the coming weeks, the fine tuning of the circulation process, the stabilization and measurement of the energy production and the long term working will take place.

Background info:

The primary goal of the SER project is to create a model and prototype of a working coal power plant cycle that demonstrates that CO2 can be used in power plants instead of water to operate a continuous cycle.

The secondary objective is to measure the efficiency of the SER coal power plant model.

The efficiency of coal power plants could be increased and their emissions reduced by using CO2 instead of water as a heat transfer medium in the cycle.

With the implementation of SER technology, Coal Fired Power Plants will be salvageable and can be operated cost effectively.
